I Would Say Farewell, but Another Course Next Year Might Prove Me Wrong...

Resim
Hello, Dear Readers! What a...Wonderful semester we've had this year! In case you did not get it, I was being satirical. The only way I could restore what's left of my sanity a little bit was working with my beloved friends Buse , Elena and Berfin . I cannot thank them enough both for being reliable and hardworking teammates and amazing friends. They have made groupwork tasks a lot more bearable thanks to their understanding nature. However, I think one of the main weaknesses of this course was the groupworks in the first place. I thought that some of the work could be done individually or in pairs, both because the workload was too much of a hassle to split between teammates, and because it would be too hard to gather 4 people in a free university setting. I got lucky because I already have an awesome friend group already made, but what will the others do? Another major weakness is the timing of the course. Especially the timing of the corpus based learning assignment. We h...

Making an AI Integrated Lesson Plan!

Hello, Dear Readers! I am here with another assignment, an AI integrated ASSURE  lesson plan and worksheet ! We did this together again with my partners in crime, Buse , Elena and Berfin . The process of creation was fun and easy, since we have great synergy with eachother as a team! We created a worksheet first, and started with a word sorting activity according to the sounds they feature! Then, we asked students to generate 3 tongue twisters with the help of Magic School . To check their pronunciations, we asked students to record themselves saying the tongue twisters via Vocaroo , and send the recordings to ChatGpt to get feedback. After that, they will reflect on the feedback given by AI, and improve their pronunciation.  As many of you know, normally, I would go on and on about how much I HATE AI, ESPECIALLY givving our voices and information to it. However, I will not do it now to not exceed the word limit, and to not bore you with repetitive content. Just know t...

If You Can't Go to Paris, We Will Bring Paris to You!

Hello, dear readers! In the past, would you have thought of a technology which literally brings the country and its landmarks to your home? If I had the chance to tell this to my great grandma, she would probably laugh at my face, but now it is possible with the AR and VR technologies! Today, with my partners in crime Buse, Elena and Berfin again, we bring Paris to you! We prepared an educative material according to the ASSURE model (you can see our lesson plan here !) in which the students will both learn English and interact with their peers and also learn about the landmarks and the culture of france with immersive technology. Now, let's talk about the features of our worksheet . We prepared the worksheet with Canva and used 360 videos from Youtube for the immersive activities. For students to receive feedback, we used Padlet . We introduced landmarks and the cultural aspects of the country and finished it off with a postcard writing activity.  For my thoughts, I think t...

Flipping the Classroom Upside Down!

Hello, dear readers! Me and my partners in crime Buse , Elena and Berfin are here once again with a new project! This time, we designed a flipped classroom lesson based on the Simple Present Tense! The lesson includes a video and a variety of activities! We keep on making projects together and god, it really seems like we cannot get a proper rest. We were all so tired, but the results were worth it (p.s: I do hope that the score we will get will also be worth it as well!)! The designing process was fun, but also very time consuming and tiring. We began the work by preparing our lesson plan based on the ASSURE model. We then continued our work by designing the slides which were used in the video with Canva . Then, we prepared a worksheet for the students to solve on the same application again. After that, we prepared an interactive quiz with the help of Kahoot! We recorded the video with OBS Studio , used CapCut for editing and used Vocaroo for voice recording! You can click ...

Preparing AI Enhanced Corpus Based Materials!

Hello dear readers! This is the first material assignment of this year and I am very exhausted already! Me and my dearest friends Buse , Berfin and Elena made an AI enhanced Corpus based material together, but the timing of the assignment was...Not very well thought and student friendly, to say the least. We made a lesson plan, which you can check by tapping here , and a four page digital worksheet, which you can access by tapping here ! We made the worksheet via Canva , prepared the lesson plan with Google Docs ! Now, let's talk about the contents of the material, and discuss about its effectiveness! The material was created according to the ASSURE and DDL (Data Driven Learning) education models! The ASSURE model is basically an educative method that helps teachers choose materials and adapt lesson plans successfully according to the features of the class they are working with. Meanwhile DDL encourages students to discover the subject themselves, treating language like data. Th...

Welcome Back!

Hello, dear readers! Welcome back to my blog, I am so glad to be back into this blog that I prepared for my previous class from the last semester! From now on, I will continue using it for the Current Issues in Teaching English class I have this semester! I will post about technology and how it affects education, different usages of AI and how to integrate it properly to education, how to use a good variety of teaching methods, and how to prepare materials for English Language Teaching. I will be using this blog to also keep track of the materials I prepared, think of it as l an online portfolio for my future career! I can't wait to get started, I do hope you missed me as much as I missed you! I will do my best to prepare well made materials for you to practice English! Wish me best of luck please! Take care and stay safe!

Farewell, dear readers!

Hello, dear readers! I have made it to the end of another term, yay! I hope you were fond of my content so far! Worry not, there is more to come but not until the next term, sadly! I had a lot of fun while making this blog, however as someone with dysphoria, it was (and it still is) really hard for me to show my face or share my voice in online public platforms. I am planning to keep my account here as our teacher had asked, since we will probably continue to update this blog in the next term. As much as I struggled in some tasks, blog writing was a new experience and an overall fun activity to do for me! My greatest struggle on this task is probably the podcasting one since, as I shared before, I absolutely hate sharing my voice on public platforms. As for my favorite task, It is digital storytelling since I could not only share my voice on a secure platform, I could also do something creative with my dearest friend! I learned about a lot of new tools and task ideas that will he...
